After delivery delays due to a logistical problem, more than 350,000 doses of the corona vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer arrived in Spain on Tuesday.

The vaccination doses were flown by five aircraft to five different Spanish cities and distributed from there, as the government in Madrid announced.

Now a “massive vaccination campaign” could begin in Spain.

The army ensured that the Balearic and Canary Islands as well as the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla were supplied with the vaccine.

Spain received the first vaccination doses from Mainz-based company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer on Saturday and, like most EU countries, started vaccinations on Sunday.

Another large delivery of the vaccine expected for Monday was delayed by 24 hours.

According to Spanish figures, seven other European countries were affected by the delays, which Pfizer attributed to a “minor logistical problem”.

The Spanish government wants to record all citizens who do not want to be vaccinated against Corona in a register.

Health Minister Salvador Illa announced this in an interview with the TV channel La Sexta.

Every citizen will receive an invitation to a vaccination appointment according to the vaccination plan.

The vaccination is voluntary, but anyone who does not accept the invitation will be registered.

The register is not public and data protection will be rigorous, but the data will be made available to "European partners".
