The Tokyo Public Prosecutor's Office has filed no charges against singer Shoji Koganezawa, who was released last month after being arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Singer Shoji Koganezawa (62) was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after a rear-end collision in Suginami-ku, Tokyo, where alcohol exceeding the standard was detected in his exhaled breath.

The Tokyo Public Prosecutor's Office did not request detention, released it, and proceeded with the investigation voluntarily, but did not prosecute on the 28th.

The prosecution has not disclosed the reason for the disposition.

After his release, Mr. Koganezawa commented through his agency that he "has no excuse and deeply regrets."
