Several small, non-profit associations in the cultural sector have found it difficult to take part of the government's crisis money for cultural life.

Now, the Non-Profit Cultural Alliance, which brings together 18 national organizations for the non-profit cultural sector, has been granted SEK 9 million to distribute as crisis support to save the small, local cultural life.

- The effects of the pandemic are mitigated and association life is strengthened.

Directly searchable support aimed at local non-profit cultural associations will help meet the urgent needs of affected cultural actors, says Calle Nathanson, chairman of the Non-profit cultural alliance, in a press release.

Critical location

The project is called "The Capillaries of Culture" and will provide support for the implementation of an infection-proof cultural activity and the development of digital culture.

The representatives of the Non-Profit Cultural Alliance believe that the situation for small cultural actors is critical and that many activities risk being closed down.

- It will be a much-needed injection into the local cultural life and contribute to the development of digitally produced and distributed culture, says Calle Nathanson.

The crisis support will be distributed to around a hundred players in 2021.
