The first ten residents of an Ehpad were vaccinated on Monday in Joué-les-Tours, in Indre-et-Loire, where the vaccination campaign started on Sunday in France is continuing against the coronavirus.

Jacques Collineau, 75 years old and resident at the Ehpad Debrou, was the first to be vaccinated, in the presence in particular of representatives of the Tours University Hospital, the ARS and about twenty journalists.

“I don't care about being the first, but being vaccinated is essential for me.

I also got the flu shot.

We don't give vaccines to kill people, but on the contrary to try to save them.

My wife, who lives with her, is more reluctant but I will try to convince her, ”said Jacques Collineau.

A symbol of hope

"Ten residents of the nursing home were vaccinated today" said Abdelkabire Essalhi, director of the nursing home, for whom "this vaccine is a symbol of hope" in this residence which can accommodate 240 people "hard hit by the Covid -19 ”and where 34 residents were infected and ten people died.

According to Richard Dalmasso, Deputy Director General of the Tours University Hospital, on Saturday the Tours University Hospital was one of the first four hospitals in France to receive from Belgium the new vaccine from Pfizer-BioNTech laboratories, a "delivery of 9,756 doses" stored at -80 ° C in a freezer.

Twelve more nursing homes from the first week of January

Myriam Sally Scanzi, delegate for Indre-et-Loire of the ARS, specifies that the patient's consent "is made from a pre-consultation to know (his) history, his state of health at the time, and find out if there is no incompatibility with the vaccine ”.

In the Center-Val de Loire region, the vaccination campaign will continue in nursing homes in hospitals in Indre-et-Loire, the Hermitage, Tours, then Luynes and Loches.

Twelve nursing homes from the other departments of the region will participate in this campaign from the first week of January and all the establishments in the region (312 nursing homes and 23 USLDs in Center-Val de Loire, i.e. 33,915 residents) will be gradually supplied with vaccines at during the first phase of the campaign, according to the ARS.

At the national level, the vaccination campaign that began on Sunday is due to be deployed this week in around twenty establishments in the Paris region but also in Lyon and Lille.

The government has set, by the end of February, the goal of one million vaccinated among the oldest and most vulnerable, individuals and caregivers, in the 7,000 nursing homes and similar establishments.
