About sixty graves in the municipal cemetery of Fontainebleau (Seine-et-Marne) were desecrated "by swastikas" in the night from Sunday to Monday.

"67 old or more recent stelae have been vandalized by swastikas, roses, white and silver," said LR mayor of Fontainebleau, Frédéric Valletoux.

The Jewish cemetery, located next to the city's main cemetery, has not been desecrated, according to the Fontainebleau prosecutor's office, which has opened an investigation for "degradation of graves".

Strange inscriptions "Biobananas" and "Charles" were also tagged on the graves but "no anti-Semitic inscription", underlined the mayor Frédéric Valletoux, who announced the next filing of a complaint by the town hall.

"No claim and no spray paint were found on the spot," said the prosecution.
