Recently, in Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia, the capital of Liao, a Khitan couplet in the year of the ox made people’s eyes shine and became a favorite "new favorite" of many people.

This couplet has a total of 14 characters. The upper couplet means "home in the first spring of the year", the lower couplet means "the year of the ox is full of happiness", and the horizontal comment means "the year of the ox is lucky.

The Khitan small characters are used, and there is a corresponding Chinese translation.

Wang Wenchao, the creator of the couplet, selected 14 characters from the papers published by experts in the Khitan Liao culture by searching for materials and books and finally sorted it out.

The Khitan script is a script created by the Khitan people in the Liao Dynasty by referring to Chinese characters to record the Khitan language. It is a derived script of Chinese characters. It has the official status of the Liao State established by the Khitan nationality and is divided into two types: large characters and small characters.

Both large and small letters have ideographic and phonetic components, and small letters have more phonetic components than large letters.

Although the big and small characters have not been fully interpreted, the charm of Qidan characters has always attracted people.
