This New Year's Eve everything will be different.

So for a change you could rethink the choice of drinks.

The classic toast is, of course, champagne.

But on New Year's Eve, which you spend at home anyway, you could try some more complex variants.

So that you don't have to go back to any recipe from the Internet, the ICONIST editorial team reveals nine favorite recipes that have always proven themselves.

We also try to make the selection as easy as possible for you by presenting the drink as comprehensively as possible.

What makes this drink so special?

Eggnog is so

out of date

that it's cool again.

Several small manufacturers are currently trying to give the drink a new shine with their own egg liqueur variations, including the Rübbelberg and Poli Distillerie brands.

You can also make eggnog yourself pretty easily.

This recipe has been

approved

several times

- and is also ideal as a dessert because the consistency is so creamy:

But you can't drink that much of the egg liqueur.

Lupita Margarita

What makes this drink so special?

Bartender

Bettina Kupsa owns the Hamburg bar “Chug Club”, which was named “Bar of the Year” in 2017, and Kupsa herself was also voted “Hostess of the Year”.

In the “Chug Club” she specializes in agave spirits - such as tequila and mezcal, her cocktails with them are legendary.

Since it is difficult with the drinks in bars, Kupsa has now packed her mixed art in a bottle, the

Lupita Margarita

.

What do you need?

That's the beauty - only the bottle (available from trinkablebnis.de for 25 euros).

Rainbow cocktail

Source: private

What makes this drink so special?

This drink is definitely something for the eye.

While the adults devote themselves to the high-proof, the children usually go away empty-handed - at least when the “Robby Bubble” was sold out again.

How much alcohol is in there?

None at all - but lots of sugar!

What do you need?

Orange juice without pulp (200 ml), sparkling mineral water (100 ml), non-alcoholic blue curacao (2 cl) and pomegranate or raspberry syrup (3 cl).

In addition, the following “hardware” is required: narrow tall glasses, bar spoons and double measuring beakers.

How easy is it to prepare?

You definitely need a very steady hand and it is imperative to observe the correct order when adding the ingredients.

First carefully mix the mineral water with the curacao in a separate container, then pour the orange juice into the glass.

Now it gets tricky: hold the bar spoon across the edge of the glass (curved side up) and then slowly let the syrup run into the juice.

In the last step, add the blue-colored water to the juice - also with the help of the bar spoon - and the rainbow cocktail is ready.

fire tongs punch

Source: pa / dpa-tmn / Wkf

What makes this drink so special?

Every time a highlight, because on the one hand you never know what is going to happen (have extinguishing water ready), and on the other hand the Feuerzangenbowle is entertaining, not only because it makes you very drunk.

How much alcohol is in there?

Very, very much, because without high percentage alcohol there is no fire.

If you want to pop it, this drink is just the thing.

What do you need?

Pinot Noir (2 liters), orange juice (500 ml), an untreated orange, an untreated lemon, a stick of cinnamon, six cloves, four star anise, a sugar loaf, Stroh 80 Original (for drizzling on the sugar) or another rum with at least 54 percent Alcohol.

You also need a fireproof bowl pot with a matching warmer and sugar pad (fire tongs) as well as long matches and a metal ladle.

How easy is it to prepare?

Very easy when sober.

Lightly squeeze the orange and lemon and cut into slices.

Heat red wine (do not boil) and add the fruit juice, orange juice, fruit slices and spices.

Let it steep a little and then put in the bowl and place on the warmer.

Place the sugar loaf across (!) On the support on the bowl, drizzle with rum and light it with a long match.

If the fire threatens to go out, new rum can be poured over the sugar with a metal ladle (!) - until the whole sugar loaf has dripped into the punch.

Who might not like this?

If you don't love rum or red wine, you should do without it.

Those who want to stay halfway sober should also do without.

Bellini

Source: Getty Images / Carlo A

What makes this drink so special?

Clearly, sparkling alcohol mixed with fruity peach.

That makes the Bellini, which was invented in 1948 in the legendary “Harry's Bar” in Venice, not only a permanent guest at “Boozy Brunch” parties.

It has also become the historic favorite of writers Ernest Hemingway, Truman Capote, and director Orson Welles.

Because instead of having to decapitate a bottle of sparkling water at noon and drink it straight, the Bellini hides the decadent champagne with its fruitiness in an aperitif suitable for the day.

And the other way around, if you don't want to buy champagne, you can upgrade any Prosecco to a Bellini with homemade peach puree.

How much alcohol is in there?

The glass should be three quarters filled with champagne.

What do you need?

Puree fresh peaches with a sparkling alcohol, so something clear with carbonic acid.

How easy is it to prepare?

Very easy.

First the champagne, then a dash of peach.

Cheers!

Who might not like this?

The drink is reminiscent of vacation, brunch days with friends or the first aperitif that you treat yourself to at the hotel bar when you check in in a strange city.

If a person really doesn't like all of this, then he or she doesn't like Bellini either.

High quality sparkling wine

What makes this drink so special?

Sparkling wine is often associated with sweet supermarket products.

The cuvée from the sparkling wine manufacturer Heinz Wagner tastes almost like champagne, but without trying to be one, emphasizes founder Maximilian Wagner.

He has only been leading his own winery for almost five years and thus a family tradition of viticulture into the next generation.

It tastes like a champagne comeback - and really, really good.

How much alcohol is in there?

Slightly so, you could treat yourself to a couple of glasses.

What do you need?

A particularly beautifully shaped champagne flute.

How easy is it to prepare?

Put it in the glass - and enjoy.

But please do not dilute with ice cubes.

Who might not like this?

Beer drinkers?
