A lone Italian man calls the police, asking for company and watch

A retired Italian man (94 years) felt lonely over the Christmas holidays and decided to find someone to share the night with during the holiday by calling the emergency number.

The man who lives in Alto Reno Terme, near Bologna, Italy, told police, "I don't miss anything, I just miss someone with whom I can have a drink for Christmas."

"Do you have any policeman who can come to my house for 10 minutes," the man asked, adding that his children live far away.

The police fulfilled the man’s request, and the police arrived at his home shortly after, and two policemen took part in the Christmas evening.

According to the Italian police statement, the man gave the policemen anecdotes from his experiences during the Second World War and made a video call to his relatives and the two policemen next to him.

It is reported that Italy imposed strict restrictions on travel during Christmas and the New Year in an attempt to stop the outbreak of the Corona virus.

Ahead of the holidays, Pope Francis urged people to think about sick people and people who feel lonely and make a phone call to them.
