The year-end cartoon is almost an institution
at Disney
.
And when it is
its Pixar subsidiary
that is at the helm, it is almost always the announcement that the spectators will feast.
Soul
is no exception to the rule.
For the French version, Omar Sy lends his voice to Joe Gardner, a music teacher, passionate about jazz, who finally has the opportunity to realize his dream: to play in the best club in New York.
But an unfortunate fall throws him into the "
great before
" - a kind of afterlife where new souls acquire their personalities before being sent to Earth.
Determined to find his life again, Joe who is dead and very dead is going to have to become the mentor of 22, a mischievous soul who has never understood the interest of living a human existence.
As Camille Cottin lends her voice to the lively 22, the duo hits the mark and we follow their tribulations with pleasure.
By the way,
Soul
delivers us some first truths, mornings of oriental spirituality: "
Life has so much to offer
", or even "
do not miss the simple joys of existence
".
If the message is certainly a little simplistic, the characters are so overwhelming, and the beyond imagined by the director and his writers so beautiful and rich in visual inventions, that in the end
Soul
can only seduce, young and old alike. big.
