A university professor kills his student and cuts her body in Russia

A Russian court has convicted a university professor on charges of killing and dismembering the body of a student, to 12 years and 6 months in prison.

The accused, who was studying at Saint Petersburg State University, killed a doctoral student studying at the same university, at his home in November of last year.

The court concluded the conviction of Oleg Sokolov, 64, after he was caught near the Moika River in front of his apartment in St. Petersburg, with a backpack with amputated arms inside.

The authorities verified that the arms belong to the student’s body, and investigators found other parts of her body in the river and some of it in his house.

Sokolov admitted that he had an emotional relationship with the student, and that he shot her during a quarrel between them and then dismembered her body to get rid of it.
