Okinawa Prefecture announced on the 24th that it was confirmed that 48 new people were infected with the new coronavirus.
Of these, 15 are infected in Iheya Village, a remote island with a population of more than 1,200, and the prefecture says that the medical system on the remote islands is vulnerable and calls for minimum visits.
A total of 5095 infected people were confirmed in the prefecture.
Meanwhile, the U.S. military has informed the prefecture that five people have been infected at Camp Hansen, four at Kadena Air Base, and one at Camp Zukeran.
With this, the number of confirmed infections by US military personnel in Okinawa is 673.
