The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to relax the requirements of the long-term care insurance system so that elderly patients who have recovered can be accepted at long-term care facilities as the beds are tightened due to the spread of the new coronavirus.

In response to the nationwide tightness of beds due to the rapid increase in the number of people infected with the new coronavirus, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided to support the acceptance of elderly recovered patients at nursing care facilities so that they can be discharged quickly. Hardened.

Normally, if the number of elderly people exceeds the capacity, the nursing care fee paid to the nursing care provider will be reduced by 30%, but if the local government requests the acceptance of discharged patients, it will not be reduced.

It also means that even if the discharged patient is not certified as requiring long-term care, the use of long-term care insurance is provisionally permitted.

At the nursing care site, there are cases where patients with the new coronavirus are refused acceptance from hospitalized medical institutions because they are "suspected of being infected", and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare reiterates that they should not refuse acceptance for this reason. I have decided.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare will officially announce this policy on the 25th and will inform local governments and nursing care facilities nationwide.
