Formula 1 boss Chase Carey has announced that he is in "advanced negotiations" with Amazon's streaming platform and its competitors for the broadcast of motor racing.

The aim is to rejuvenate the motorsport audience, without however cutting oneself off from enthusiasts who follow the competitions on television.

The news is not going to please traditional TV channels: Formula 1 could soon be broadcast on Amazon.

It is the boss of Formula 1, Chase Carey himself, who revealed to be in advanced discussions with Amazon and all the global digital platforms for the diffusion of his car races.

Chase Carey sees these streaming sites as potential partners and an opportunity to develop the motorsport business.

A complement to the TV offer

If these agreements are signed, that does not mean the end of those with traditional broadcasters, such as Canal + in France.

The retransmission of Formula 1 competitions on streaming platforms should complement the offer of television channels.

The goal put forward by Chase Carey is the rejuvenation of the racing public.

Not sure, however, that the TV channels appreciate that Formula 1 is trying to take away the few young people who remain to them, at a time when video content platforms keep nibbling the ground of our good old television channels.
