The musicologist god Ludwig Finscher once stated that Adalbert Gyrowetz, born in Bohemia in 1763 like many of the classical Viennese Tonkünstler, would have been counted among the great composers, had it not been for these damned contemporaries - Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven.

Gyrowetz would probably have flattered that.

He was a humble man who knew very well where he belonged in the history of music.

It is high time to rediscover it.
