In our

Minute Papillon

podcast

!

, today we slip into the pocket of a journalist from

20 Minutes

and we go behind the scenes of the profession.

And one of the bases of this work is reporting.

Reporting, that is to say going out into the field, collecting the floor, capturing the atmosphere, sorting and checking the information, passing it on to as many people as possible, in an honest manner.

What we want and what we can

Among the many reports made, there are some that go well ... And there are others that go wrong.

Not because the terrain is "difficult", but because there are times, it is the body that says "stop".

For example, because of an innocuous-looking hot chocolate that will become your worst nightmare.

In this episode, we discuss with David Phelippeau,

20 Minutes

journalist

in Nantes, sent to cover the 2016 start of the Vendée Globe, the great solo sailing race.

The journalist recounts a report at sea that did not go as planned.

Feeling of loneliness

You will (re) discover the law of the four "F's" at sea (namely "cold, hunger, fatigue and jitters") which can spoil your crossing.

Just like the feeling of loneliness felt when the "signal start" of a great race sounds and when you are the only sick person among fifty or so colleagues.

Still, a failed report can (almost) leave a good memory.

David Phelippeau has since returned to cover the start of the great race in Les Sables-d'Olonne, in November 2020. To listen to our journalist, it's as easy as a click in the reader above.
