The police took them by surprise - in the middle of the night.

This is how Mahmut A., father of a family of seven who was deported from Sontra in northern Hesse to Turkey at the beginning of December, portrays it.

He and his 18-year-old son were handcuffed.

Then the family was taken to Frankfurt am Main Airport - and from there to Istanbul.

If the family and the initiators of a petition have their way, it was an act of arbitrariness.

Because Mahmut A. claims: He and his relatives are officially tolerated in Germany.

First, the "Hessische / Niedersächsische Allgemeine" ("HNA") reported on the case at the end of last week.

Accordingly, the family has lived in Germany for 30 years.

A little later, the story of the supposedly unjustified and rough deportation made headlines in Turkey as well.

In the Erdogan-loyal newspaper “Yeni Safak” and in several video messages, Mahmut A. raised serious allegations against the German security authorities.

Several broadcasters garnished the report with their own accusations of racism.

“Almanya”, in other words Germany, was trending on Twitter in Turkey this weekend.

The foreign broadcaster TRT Deutschland, which is close to the AKP, also broadcasts the statements in the German-Turkish community.

"That was pure chicane," says Mahmut A. in it: "They ruined our lives."

The father was supposed to be deported years ago

According to WELT information, however, the prehistory of the repatriation is different from what was claimed.

Because all family members have been legally obliged to leave the country since 2009.

They let the deadline for voluntary departure pass unused.

Upon request, the Kassel Regional Council announced that the repatriation had failed for almost two decades because the father of the family refused to register his five children between the ages of 13 and 19 at the Turkish Consulate General, despite numerous official requests.

“Even a forced demonstration at the Turkish Consulate General in April 2011 was unsuccessful, so that the children still do not have passports to this day.

As a result, the legal guardians drove their children into illegality, ”said a spokesman.

In addition, father Mahmut A. is said to have been deported to Turkey in 1996.

According to this, however, A. returned to Germany shortly afterwards - this time with the claim that he had been tortured in Turkey.

A medical report has refuted the claim, however, it is said from Kassel.

According to the expert, the man injured himself.

A dispute with the immigration authorities that lasted for years apparently began.

Mahmut A. had threatened an employee with murder, the regional council announced.

A. had appeared under criminal law several times and was convicted of fraud, coercion and disturbance of the public peace by threatening criminal offenses.

The supporters of the family have not yet commented on this.

In a petition against the deportation, which has now been signed by almost 8,000 people, it is said that the mostly underage or just adult children and their parents were torn from their homes without warning and for no known reason.

Their livelihoods, "which their parents built for themselves and their children here in Germany for over 20 years," had been stolen from them.

Family father asks Erdogan for help

The family wants to go back to Germany.

She is temporarily staying in Istanbul.

But she doesn't want to stay there.

Because the children born in Germany report that they do not speak Turkish themselves.

“I don't have a degree, I don't speak the language here.

I'm starting from scratch now, "the HNA quotes 15-year-old Sarah A.

The authorities doubt this representation.

On the contrary, the parents made no effort to integrate.

The mother speaks little German to this day, which is why an interpreter was called in for the deportation.

That the children do not speak Turkish would therefore not be credible.

Mahmut A., however, wants to fight.

He turned to Recep Tayyip Erdogan in the Turkish media: "I need help from our President and all representatives of our state - help us."
