Polish developer CD Project Red, which is behind the action role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077, risks being sued, several media outlets report.

Shortly after the game was released, earlier in December, players began to complain about extensive bugs and technical shortcomings, especially in the versions developed for Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

Thousands of players have demanded their money back, and gaming giant Sony removed the game indefinitely from its digital store.

Shareholders have been hit hard, as the value of CD Project Red's share has risen 40 percent since the beginning of December, reports The New York Times.

It has led some investors to consider a class action lawsuit against the company, which is believed to have misled the buyers in order to obtain financial gain, says lawyer and shareholder Mikolaj Orzechowski on the Polish site Bankier.

CD Project Red has apologized, asked the players for patience - as many of the problems will be solved in future updates, but also offered the money back to those who bought the game in physical stores.

Despite the shaky release, the PC version of the game is said to work decently, and almost 25 million people played "Cyberpunk 2077" simultaneously via the Steam platform a few days after the release.
