France has recorded 11,795 new cases of Covid-19 contamination in the last 24 hours and more than 386 deaths, according to figures from health authorities published on Tuesday.
The positivity rate of people tested was 4.4% against 4.7% the day before, says Public Health France (SpF).
This key indicator stood at 6.4% on December 8, when a new accounting method was introduced.
The disease has killed 386 in hospitals in the past 24 hours, 32 more than yesterday.
First vaccines delivered on Saturday
The total death toll at 61,702 deaths since the start of the pandemic, according to SpF, including 42,507 in hospital.
The health authorities fear that the end of the year celebrations will lead to a rebound in the epidemic, by promoting social promiscuity.
In France, the first vaccination campaign against Covid-19 will begin Sunday in France in “two or three” establishments for the elderly and will concern “a few dozen residents”, announced Tuesday the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, specifying that the first vaccines would be "delivered on Saturday" in the territory.
