Ivory Coast: still at a standstill by FIFA decision, the IFF appeals to CAS

The Ivorian Football Federation announced, Monday, December 21, that it had requested the Court of Arbitration for Sport to rule on the decision of the International Football Federation.
In August, the latter interrupted the electoral process of the presidency of the FIF, which is today calling for the lifting of this suspension.

The race for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) drags on a little longer and has a new player: the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS).
The FIF announced it in a press release on Monday: it appealed to the CAS in the dispute between it and the International Football Federation (FIFA).
Reminder of the facts: on August 27, FIFA
interrupted the electoral process
at the head of the FIF.
According to the latter, this decision was taken on the basis of "
rumors according to which the Electoral Commission was prevented from continuing its work calmly
".
The FIF itself had slowed down during the summer in the face of the lack of confidence and transparency that has undermined it for years.
Since then, and still according to the FIF press release, FIFA asked the Ivorian federation for a series of information and documents, then proceeded to hearings until mid-October.
And since then, the FIF assures to have no news from FIFA, and therefore even less lifting of the suspension decided in August,
despite its requests

The FIF "is
surprised by the silence of FIFA, informs it of the difficulties created by maintaining its suspension decision, and asks it to lift this suspension as soon as possible
", and recalls that "
Ivorian football is stopped since August 2020 without objective reasons
”.
Considering the silence of FIFA as a "
rejection of its request
", the FIF now turns to the CAS "in
order to request (...) the outright cancellation
" of the suspension in progress.
