On the 21st of the winter solstice, many people gathered at Ise Jingu in Ise City, Mie Prefecture to see the rising sun from between the Otorii, and the Jingu side called for wearing masks.

At the Otorii in front of Uji Bridge at the entrance of the inner shrine of Ise Jingu, you can see the rising sun from the center of the Otorii only before and after the winter solstice, which has the shortest daytime of the year.

On the morning of the 21st, about 600 people gathered in front of the Uji Bridge to see the morning sun at a glance.

Although the number of people was about 200 less than usual, it was crowded, so at Ise Jingu, we called on the people who gathered to wear masks and refrain from crowded conversations.

After 7:40 am, when the sun shined from the mountain beyond the Otorii, the gathered people were shooting with cameras and smartphones and holding hands together.

A woman in her 40s from Kawagoe City, Saitama Prefecture, said, "I had a lot of things to do, but I worship the Asahi, but I feel refreshed."
