Weak is not only the most played Swedish song on Swedish radio 2020, it is also the most streamed song ever in Swedish.

It has been number one on both the Swedish and Norwegian charts and third on the Danish radio charts.

- You just have to pinch your arm sometimes, says Victor Leksell, who is marked by the Nordic success by interview requests from mainly Norwegian newspapers and TV channels falling in during the year.

Broken language barriers

The Nordic Language Prize is awarded by the Nordic Association to a person or organization that contributes to strengthening Nordic language comprehension.

In their motivation, they write that Svag has broken down language barriers:

"'You tear my walls' Leksell sings in the chorus and that is exactly what he has done with his music.

In a time of closed borders, Leksell has shown the cohesion that exists in the Nordic cultural community ”.

"Most beautiful I've heard"

On Youtube and social media, there are many covers of Svag in everything from different Norwegian to Scanian and Älvdalsmål.

Victor Leksell has seen the majority of them.

- I think it's so nice with covers because I myself started with covers, he says.

Leksell thinks that Weak works just as well in other Nordic languages, not least in Norwegian.

He himself has made a version together with the Norwegian artist Astrid S.

- It is kind of the most beautiful I have heard, he says.

"Related to it"

The song Svag was created by Victor Leksell together with Carl Silvergran, Felix Flygare, Kevin Högdahl and Niklas Carson Mattsson.

How much of the lyrics to Weak have you written yourself?

- It's not really that much.

But I could relate to it directly and that's really the most important thing for me: that I feel what I sing.
