France is in an epidemic situation in "quite fragile, even precarious" concerning the Covid-19, declared Olivier Véran, this Monday on Europe 1, estimating that it was not necessary "especially not to switch to the wrong side".

"We are not on a slope (upward), we have been on a straight line for about two weeks, namely that the virus is no longer decreasing, but we are not in a massive increase either", explained the minister of Health.

Nearly 13,000 new cases of contamination in 24 hours

"This straight line is at a too high level", far from "5,000 cases per day, which we wanted to achieve in order to be able to regain control over the chains of contamination of the virus", he added.

"We are above 10,000, which means that we are in a rather fragile, even precarious situation, above all we must not switch to the wrong side," the minister warned.

In France, 12,799 new cases of Covid-19 contamination over the past 24 hours were noted on Sunday evening.

But the Minister of Health said he was "convinced that the French have understood, have understood, the importance of being careful" during the end of the year celebrations which are coming.

A stable positivity rate

The manager notes an "increase in the number of cases diagnosed", but "also a very significant increase in the number of tests carried out;

we had fallen back to 1 million tests per week;

we were (Sunday) at 1.8 million tests per week, the more you search, the more you find ”.

Olivier Véran also notes that the “test positivity rate” is “below 6%, around 6%”, which is “rather stable”.
