The "SENDAI Pageant of Starlight", which colors the zelkova trees in the center of Sendai with about 600,000 light bulbs, began on the night of the 18th.

"SENDAI Pageant of Starlight" is a winter tradition in Sendai that colors 160 zelkova trees in Jozenji-dori, Aoba-ku, Sendai with about 600,000 LED bulbs.

On the 18th, at 7:00 pm, the light bulbs attached to the zelkova trees were lit all at once, and visitors enjoyed stopping and looking at the fantastic scenery of light and taking pictures.

As a countermeasure against infection with the new coronavirus, events such as lighting ceremonies and parades have been canceled, and the holding period has been extended from the usual year to avoid crowding of people.

In addition, every year, the green road in the center of the zelkova trees where people gather is closed to the public, so that only people who have paid the cooperation fee used to prevent infection can enter.

A first grade girl who visited with her mother said, "It's very beautiful. I enjoy wearing a mask to prevent infection."

In addition, a man in his 50s in Sendai said, "I was able to see the pageant while various events were canceled, so it looks like a good year will come."

The "SENDAI Pageant of Starlight" will be lit every day during the year, and next month on Saturdays, Sundays and the 11th of the last day.
