A good part of the Sud-Gare district heard them.

Thursday evening, around 11 p.m., the police demonstrated, screaming sirens activated, in front of the home of the mayor of Rennes Nathalie Appéré.

Several dozen officials were gathered and had activated the flashing lights and their two-tones, as a journalist from

Ouest-France

could see.

This spontaneous demonstration is not at the origin of the unions.

Contacted about the demands of this movement, a police officer explains himself.

“We want to stop being called racist and violent.

Our president does not have to denigrate us ”, regrets this experienced agent.

On social networks, many Internet users were wondering about the choice of the place of the gathering, criticizing the initiative to gather in front of the personal home of the socialist mayor.

“The same who denounce (rightly) when we target their own family for professional reasons,” laments a resident on Twitter.

“The mayor of Rennes turns a blind eye to what is happening in her city.

Now she knows we are angry ”.

Even within the ranks of the police, this choice divides.

The mayor should react during the day.

New actions today

This is not the first action taken by the Rennes police officers this week and it is not the last.

"We have planned new actions as of today," said another police officer.

The Rennes police officers are especially raised against the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron and his statements after the beating of the producer Michel Zecler by several police officers during a filmed arrest.

Three of the four police officers involved are in prison.

“And we, when we call out thugs, they come out the next day.

What we expect is a reform of the justice system, ”explains a police officer.
