On the 18th, multiple chickens were found dead at a poultry farm in Miyazaki City, and genetic testing revealed the avian influenza virus.

This is the eighth outbreak of bird flu in Miyazaki prefecture this winter.

According to Miyazaki Prefecture, on the afternoon of the 18th, there was a report that about 20 chickens were dead at a poultry farm in Miyazaki City.

When a genetic test was conducted following a simple test, "H5 type" avian influenza virus was detected by the morning of the 19th, so the prefecture is proceeding with the disposal of approximately 34,000 chickens at this poultry farm.

According to the prefecture, there is one poultry farm in the "restricted movement area" within a radius of 3 km from this poultry farm, and about 34,000 chickens are bred.

On the other hand, there are 6 poultry farms in the "restricted export area" with a radius of 3 to 10 km, but all of them are "restricted export areas" of another chicken farm where the outbreak of bird flu was confirmed on the 14th of this month. The shipment of chickens and eggs is already restricted.

This is the eighth case of bird flu confirmed in Miyazaki Prefecture this winter, and Miyazaki Prefecture continues to call for strict caution.
