The rime of Jilin, the sea of clouds of Huangshan, the sunrise of Mount Tai, and the tide of Qiantang are called China's four major meteorological wonders.
Jilin City is known as the "City of Rime". The Songhua River runs through the city. Affected by the temperature difference and the mist of the river, the river bank in the urban area will form a spectacular rime landscape every year.
Relying on the natural beauty, Jilin first held the Rime Ice and Snow Festival in 1991.
After years of development, it has developed into a comprehensive festival that integrates tourism, culture, sports, and economy and trade with influence at home and abroad.
The current Jilin International Rime Ice and Snow Festival will run through the entire 2020-2021 snow season and will last until the end of February 2021.
During the period, 11 high-quality ice and snow tourism routes will be launched, including rime viewing, skiing vacation, hot spring health care, and folk custom experience, and 14 main activities and more than 100 series of activities will be held.
Among them, the Snow Hot Pot Festival held that day attracted many tourists to participate. In the extremely cold climate close to minus 30 ℃, tourists experienced a real "two heavens of ice and fire."
