Swedish filmmakers are working on a project about the Scandinavian detective Sven Gjerson, famous for his novels by Agatha Christie.

According to Deadline, Agatha Christie's Sven Gjerson will be released in the fall of 2021 in two formats: as a series of four feature films, and as a series with eight episodes.

Events in the project will unfold in modern Stockholm.

Former detective Sven Gjerson, who has solved many high-profile crimes, has retired.

Now he does household chores, collects vinyl records, monitors food with a vegan diet, and collects gossip.

However, the public did not forget about the legendary detective.

TV producer Clara Sandberg decides to launch a crime reality show with Gjerson, dedicated to the investigation of crimes.

An ambitious project that can turn her entire life and career upside down gets the green light.

However, its creator still has one problem: she doesn't even know Gjerson himself.

According to the authors of the film, "Sven Gjerson Agatha Christie" is primarily a detective project.

However, it also has a comedic component.

“In the series, viewers will find secrets, experiences and puzzles.

Although this is not a comedy, there is a sense of humor here, and the world of the series itself is created in such a way that it will be just pleasant to look at it, ”said Josefina Tengblad, head of the TV4 / C More“ Series ”direction.

One of the producers of the project, Patrick Andersson, promises that the tape will correspond to the best traditions of Scandinavian detectives.

“We strive to continue the tradition of high-quality Scandinavian noir, but to release something lighter and more playful - a Swedish detective with a love for everything English, which is set today,” - said the filmmaker.

The main roles in the project will be played by Johan Rheborg ("The Century Old Man Who Crawled Out the Window and Disappeared") and Hannah Alström ("Kingsman: The Secret Service").

The project will be staged by Lisa James-Larsson (Victoria) and Lisa Farzaneh (Quicksand).

Patrick Güllström, Björn Pakualin, Aaron Lewander and other authors are involved in the script.

Interestingly, although the project intersects with Christie's works, at least in terms of the names and characters of the characters, it is based on the original script.

Despite the fact that Sven Gjersen is famous for the novels of the British writer, he does not have a full storyline there.

The hero appears in books where the author of detective stories Ariadne Oliver appears.

The woman is investigating with Hercule Poirot and writes detective stories about Giersen.

At the same time, Oliver hates his character, but the readers like him, because his story gets continued again and again.

It is known that Agatha Christie also did not like Poirot: for all the years of working on novels about this hero, she managed to get tired of him.

The attitude of the writer to the character is reflected in the story of Ariadne Oliver.

According to Josefina Tengblad, the project with Gjersen in the center of the plot will stand out both against the background of other film adaptations of Christie's books and in comparison with modern media production in general.

"With the current boom in the series, it is very important to find something unique that has not been seen before, as was the case with Agatha Christie's Sven Gjerson, given that all other film adaptations of Agatha Christie have been based on her books," explained Josefina Tengblad.

The project was initiated by the Swedish TV company TV4 and the video service C More.

The tape is also expected to gain distribution outside Scandinavia, with the German company ZDF Enterprises acquiring distribution rights.

Agatha Christie was born in the South West of England in 1890.

She began writing at the age of 18, and by the age of 30 she published her first novel, The Mysterious Incident in Styles.

In her entire life, she has created at least 60 detective stories and several collections of stories.

Christie is recognized as the best-selling writer of all time: her works have sold around the world with a total circulation of more than 2 billion copies.

Many of Agatha Christie's books have been filmed.

Among the most famous adaptations - the British TV series "Agatha Christie's Poirot" with David Suchet in the title role and the serial film "Miss Marple" with Joan Hickson.
