  Line 18 is the first batch of Shanghai's first full-function, high-volume rail transit lines with the highest level of fully automated operation at one time. It uses a number of new construction technologies, new materials, and process-based naked assembly.

The line runs through the hinterland of east and central Shanghai, passing through Pudong New Area, Yangpu District, Baoshan District, starting from Hangtou Station in the south and ending at South Changjiang Road Station in the north.

The color temperature is automatically adjusted to improve passenger comfort.
