Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has made fun of the possible consequences of a vaccination against the coronavirus.

The manufacturers of the vaccines would not give any guarantees of possible consequences, said the right-wing extremist head of state on Thursday (local time).

With a view to the joint vaccine of the Mainz-based company Biontech and its US partner Pfizer, he added: "If you become a caiman, it's your problem."

Although there are already almost 185,000 Covid-19 deaths in Brazil, the president has questioned vaccinations several times.

Now he added: "If a woman grows a beard or if a man begins to speak in a clear voice, they want nothing to do with it," he said with a view to the manufacturers of vaccines.

It is the "worst" thing to intervene in people's immune systems.

"I'm not going to get vaccinated," said Bolsonaro.

He pointed out that he already had a corona infection behind him.

"I already have antibodies - why a new vaccination?"

The vaccine from Biontech and Pfizer has meanwhile gone through its third test phase in Brazil.

Vaccinations have already started in the USA and Great Britain.

In the EU, approval is expected next week.

The Supreme Court of Brazil ruled on Thursday that the authorities can make corona vaccinations mandatory.
