In 2004, he came to Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province because of an English teacher recruitment advertisement, and has now lived in China for 16 years.

　　An interesting thing is that when I first came to China, I had two large bottles of shampoo and a lot of soap in my suitcase because I thought I couldn't buy it here.

The first apartment I lived in China was on a supermarket. This supermarket had all the things I brought over.

Obviously I don’t need to bring anything, because they are cheaper here, so it’s best to leave everything I bring here at home. Everything here is much cheaper and the quality is the same.

This is my first impression of China, which is completely beyond my expectations.

Especially in the past few years, he has ridden China three times, from south to north, from north to south, spanning more than 20 cities and traveling tens of thousands of kilometers.

During the journey, Jerry witnessed the earth-shaking changes taking place in this land of China from the eyes of an Australian.

　　I went to Ningxia again in 2019. Before I went, I told my wife that when we went to Ningxia, we would see poverty and backwardness there.

As a result, we did not see that although the cave dwelling is still there, no one lives in it anymore.

Many commercial buildings have been built in the area, such as cinemas and shopping malls, as are restaurants and hotels. All the roads are great, and they are all newly built. From 2014 to 2019, five or six years.

Ningxia gives people a completely different feeling.

　　[Explanation] Jerry said that he has heard many stories about poverty alleviation in China before, and the changes in these places in western China are a microcosm of the results of the "poverty alleviation battle".

　　I like the Chinese system very much. A rich city helps the poor.

This is a very effective system.

I think this is an instruction from the Chinese central government.

They told Zhongshan that this year you can help people in Shaoguan, or you can help people in Heyuan, because you have a lot of money, and they don't, this is a good system.

　　[Explanation] Over the past few years, Jerry and his wife have been helping some poor families in Heyuan and Shaoguan, Guangdong. They have also witnessed the development and changes in these two places.

　　My wife is still helping three families in Shaoguan. We went there to help them during the Spring Festival this year.

These families have children, and my wife gives these families red envelopes every year so that the children can buy their textbooks, school uniforms and so on.

But it is becoming more and more unnecessary.

Because we see that each of their families, especially those that impressed us, now has a chicken farm.

The local government gave them 100 chickens, which have now become thousands of chickens.

Since March 2019, he has published more than 9,000 posts about China on social networking sites, showing that he has witnessed the process of great changes in China through cycling.

If there is no central government, this is impossible. If there is no local government, this is impossible. It must be done nationwide.
