If you've never heard the name Gunnar Kaiser before, you can't help but memorize him this week - at least when he's on Twitter.

There a tweet from the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, the party foundation of the FDP, eats its way through the politics-media bubble.

"We have checked the person Gunnar Kaiser very intensively", learns the surprised reader, "and we have to take note that Mr. Kaiser works with right-wing populist and conspiracy-theoretical ideas."

Confusing news: Since when has it been part of the purpose of liberal foundations to “check” “people” - isn't that more the job of investigative authorities or secret services? And what makes the “Foundation for Freedom” go public with the name of the “Person Gunnar Kaiser” and the result of its background check?
