The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region held an oath-taking ceremony for the Deputy Directors and Political Assistants at the headquarters of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region on December 16. All 12 Deputy Directors and 14 Political Assistants, witnessed by the Chief Executive Carrie Lam, pledged to support the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. Allegiance to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
Except for politically appointed officials, the Civil Service Bureau issued a notice in October 2020, requiring all civil servants who joined the SAR government on or after July 1, 2020 to take an oath or sign a declaration as part of the terms of employment.
The Civil Service Bureau will announce the specific arrangements for requiring incumbent civil servants to sign the declaration shortly.
The oath ceremony of the permanent secretary and department heads will be held on December 18.
