In celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which falls on December 18 of each year, the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language in the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi continues its efforts to revive the translation movement in the Arab world, and to enrich the Arabic library with many books in scientific, intellectual and literary fields translated into 18 international languages This is part of the «Kalima» translation project.

The head of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, considered translation as bridges of knowledge that connect peoples of all races and ethnicities.

He added: “The department is working within a clear plan to support Arabic content, through the“ Kalima ”project, which has been presented since its launch in 2007 and up to now, with 1,200 translated books, in various knowledge, sciences, arts and literature. The project’s publications were able to provide aspects that require more publications. , Such as books dedicated to children and teenagers, which reached about 300 books.

The head of the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language stated: “The Kalima project was able to achieve its presence on the Arab scene, which qualified it to obtain the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Translation at its fifth session in 2011.”

The "Kalima" project also contributed to revitalizing and activating the Arabic translation movement, encouraging Arab translators, and adding expertise to some of them.

He pointed out that the Publishing Department was not limited to translating into Arabic through the "Kalima" project, but rather worked through one of its initiatives to publish the book "Words of the Leader Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan" in 10 major foreign languages, and the book contains a selection of sayings The founding leader, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, which reflects the foundations on which he relied in his rule, and the principles and values ​​that shaped his vision for building and developing the UAE.

For his part, the Acting Executive Director of the Abu Dhabi Center for Arabic Language in the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi, Abdullah Majed Al Ali, stressed the importance of what was provided by "publications" in disseminating the intellectual and creative output of Arab intellectuals and writers, which contributes to the preservation and sustainability of this content, which constitutes In the future, an important reference for generations, as it is now an important source of culture and knowledge.

Al Ali explained: “We must always remember that the ancient Arab literature contributed greatly to human civilization, and the West translated a number of these books and used them in its renaissance.”
