After the triage statements of a medical director of a clinic in Zittau, Saxony, the hospital control center in East Saxony reports that in the past few days, “more” patients from the Bautzen and Görlitz districts had to be moved to more distant hospitals.
These transports to Dresden and Leipzig are always there when regional hospitals no longer have capacity for corona patients, explained the head of the control center, Christian Kleber, in Dresden on Wednesday.
The control center controls the capacities in East Saxony.

However, it can be assumed that the number of cases will increase in the coming days.
East Saxony with the districts of Bautzen and Görlitz is one of the corona hotspots in Germany.
Kleber did not provide any specific information on the situation in Zittau.
The medical director of the Oberlausitzer Bergland Clinic, Mathias Mengel, reportedly spoke of triage in an online forum on Tuesday evening.
Triage means that medical professionals must decide who to help first due to scarce resources.
Mengel explained to the news portal "t-online": "In the past few days we have been in the situation several times that we had to decide who gets oxygen and who doesn't."

Attempts are being made to transfer the patients for whom there is no care to another clinic.
"But we are in the epicenter, some houses no longer accept." The decision could also mean that there would then no longer be any appropriate help for a patient who could not be relocated.
In a statement, the Oberlausitzer Bergland-Klinikum writes that “there is high utilization both in the specially set up infection wards and in the intensive care units”.

Uwe Janssens, President of the German Interdisciplinary Association for Emergency Medicine, emphasizes that triages do not have to occur.
“We have laying strategies, we have transport capacities, we still have enough intensive care beds.
