  • The latest situation update on Covid-19 made this Tuesday by the HCL indicates a decrease in the number of patients admitted to hospital due to the virus and in intensive care.

  • A clear decline in the epidemic observed for several weeks within the CHU where caution remains however in order.

While the second wave is still underway and the fear of a new epidemic rebound has already been relayed, in Lyon, the pressure in hospitals has clearly fallen a notch.

According to the latest Covid-19 monitoring indicators communicated this Tuesday by the Hospices Civils de Lyon, the epidemic continues to retreat.

In one week (from 7 to 14), hospitalizations fell by nearly 25%, with 389 patients with the coronavirus hospitalized at HCLs, all departments combined.

A drop that is also felt in intensive care, where the drop is 20%.

The positivity rate is on the rise

In these services, which still have 77 patients with Covid-19 - or 42% of patients - the occupancy rate has also fallen, from 92% on December 8 to 87.8% on Monday.

This favorable development has led the management of the HCLs to continue to close the beds that have been gradually opened in shifts since the start of the second wave.

The services now have "205 places against 277 during the peak in mid-November", indicate the HCL, which specifies that in normal times, 139 beds are armed.

Once again, in hospitals put to the test since March, caution remains in order.

Because one of the indicators is on the rise again: that of the Covid-19 positivity rate recorded among the personnel tested.

Of the 537 screenings carried out in week 50, 11.4% of hospital employees are positive, against 8.4% eight days ago.

Another sign that calls for vigilance, the incidence rate, which has fallen sharply in recent weeks, has stabilized in the Rhône, or even started to rise again.

This data, which measures the circulation of the virus within the population, was 167.6 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the sliding week of December 2 to 8.

And now stands at 169 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
