This is the big day.

France comes out of a second confinement on Tuesday which will give way to a curfew from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., except for Christmas Eve.

To once again explain this choice, Prime Minister Jean Castex will be the guest of Europe 1 at 8:15 am He will in particular be responsible for trying to calm the anger of cultural professionals.

After a month and a half of restrictions, the French will again be able to travel throughout the national territory and without certification during the day.

Faced with a health crisis whose exit is proving much more difficult than expected, with indicators that have stagnated for several days, a strict curfew will indeed take over from the confinement.

The only exception: travel will be authorized on Christmas Eve, even if French people are recommended not to meet "more than six adults at a time".

On the other hand, it will be necessary to stay at home on December 31, because New Year's Eve "concentrates all the ingredients for an epidemic rebound", explained Jean Castex last week.

The angry culture world

Despite airs of déjà-vu, this deconfinement is very different from that of last May.

This time, theaters, performance halls, cinemas, museums, or even stadium stands, will remain closed, at least until January 7.

A decision justified by the fact "to avoid increasing the flows, the concentrations, the mixing of public", but which provoked the anger of the world of culture.

Professionals and unions denounce the killing of the sector and demand the reopening of all cultural places.

To be heard, they organize several gatherings throughout France.

In Paris, the meeting was fixed at noon Place de la Bastille by the CGT Spectacle, which calls on employees of the entertainment, cinema and audiovisual industry to denounce the “government yoyo policy”.

Another gathering at the end of the day is planned in front of the Théâtre de l'Atelier in Montmartre, on the initiative of the actors Jacques Weber, Audrey Bonnet and François Morel.

Legal actions

A fight which is also carried out in front of the courts: unions and artists announced to seize the Council of State, via a “summary freedom”, an emergency procedure, as the professionals of the restoration could have done in recent weeks, or well the ski sector.

A call to support this appeal has also been relayed by several hundred directors of theaters and companies across France.
