Curfew in France: the world of culture cries out its anger in the street

With the end of confinement, the French go to curfew from this Tuesday evening, December 15, 8 p.m.

Restaurants and bars remain closed, as do cultural places: museums, theaters, cinemas.

Their representatives are in the streets on Tuesday where the unions from the world of culture called to gather.

They must be around 200 at the foot of the Bastille opera house, many wearing masks crossed out with a red cross, and accompanied by the slogan " 

Culture in danger

 ".

The truck and the sound system have just arrived, the signs have started to appear on the steps of the Opera.

The announcement of the postponement to January 7, at least, of the reopening of theaters had the effect of a cold shower for these entertainment professionals.

Officially, it is a question of avoiding the flows, the mixing of audiences but these actors, technicians, musicians and intermittents wonder: why then authorize the mixing of populations in shopping centers?

Where is the consistency ?

Several hundred actors, musicians, cultural technicians gathered at Place de la Bastille.

They are asking for the reopening of rooms and cultural events.

Request for annulment of the decree

Culture is no less essential, emphasize those interviewed.

Uncertainty is seriously beginning to weigh on these professionals, as explained by Ghislain Gauthier, deputy secretary of the CGT spectacle.
