  • Five hundred and thirty cargo bikes will complete the Véligo offer.

Three models are available: a scooter, a double-carrier and a so-called "extended" model.

They will be deployed in the first quarter of 2021.

  • "The cargo bike is another way of seeing transport in the city", rejoices Stéphane Beaudet, vice-president in charge of transport and sustainable mobility for the Ile-de-France region.

  • The ambition of the community is to put the Ile-de-France residents in the saddle to opt for cycling in their daily commute.

Something new for Véligo.

After only one year of commissioning, Véligo Location, which already has nearly 20,000 subscriptions, is diversifying its offer to meet the new uses of cyclists with three new models of cargo bikes.

Numbering 530, they will complete the offer and will be offered for hire for a minimum of three months.

The goal ?

Make people discover this new mode of transport which is developing in Ile-de-France.

Stéphane Beaudet, vice-president in charge of transport and sustainable mobility in the region answered questions from

.

What will be the specificities of these new Véligo?

We are going to have 120 tricycles, these are bicycles that are being deployed more and more, with two wheels at the front, a bass drum with a capacity of 60 kg and with luggage racks.

You can put one or two children in the crate at the front.

We can also put boxes.

Another so-called “extended” model is also being deployed with a smaller front body, a capacity of 8 kg, with an extended luggage rack where children can also be installed.

It has the advantage of being on two wheels.

We are more comfortable in an urban environment.

We will have 200 for hire.

We think it is the one that will have the most success.

It is aimed more at the general public.

Finally, there will be 210 twin-carriers, also with a crate at the front.

Why bet on the cargo bike for families and individuals?

The objective is to go on a ground where Velib is not?

Absolutely.

We try to be innovative.

Another way of looking at transportation in the city is the cargo bike.

It is an alternative to the car.

In town, it's even faster.

Afterwards, we are not intended to be bicycle rental companies.

We're here to put the foot on the pedal, to make people enjoy it and want to buy it.

We offer a purchase aid of 500 euros for electric bikes, 600 euros for cargo bikes and 500 euros for folding bikes.

We feel that there is a seesaw, so we accompany it.

What is the deployment schedule?

Currently, we have 10,000 electric bikes, more than 5,000 being deployed and 5,000 ordered for the first quarter of 2021. We will arrive at 20,000.

For the scooter, the biporteur and the "extended", we will have them as and when the first quarter of 2021.
