Amazon studios have found their Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire.
According to
Variety
, Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley have indeed been recruited by the streaming service for a biopic dedicated to the two legends of the musical.
The film, directed by Jonathan Entwistle (
The End of the F *** ing World
) will focus on the creative relationship, described as "magical", between the two actors, who starred in no less than 10 films during the golden age of musical comedy in Hollywood, between 1933 and 1949, such as
La Joyeuse Divorcée
,
Sur les Ailes de la Danse
, or
Le Danseur du Dessus
.
In a press release, we also learn that this biopic will tell the true love story, in front, but also behind the camera, between these two legends of cinema.
On the track
Jamie Bell and Margaret Qualley were both chosen for their acting skills, of course, but also because they already have solid background as onscreen dancers.
Jamie Bell became famous for his talent as a dancer in
Billy Elliott
, released in 2000, and never hesitates to show what he is capable of.
He had done it last year in
James Corden's
Late Late Show
, in front of, precisely, Margaret Qualley!
Her future partner was, for her part, recently illustrated in
Fosse / Verdon
, in which she plays the legend of Broadway, Ann Reinking, one of Bob Fosse's proteges.
No release date has been announced for this new film, which will be written by Arash Amel, author of the screenplay for another biopic,
Grace de Monaco
