A student commits suicide for refusing to go to school in Egypt

A student committed suicide by hanging after a father forced him to go to school in Dakahlia Governorate, as the Egyptian newspaper Al-Watan complained.

The newspaper added that a report was received by the Dakahlia mabahith, from a 47-year-old fisherman, stating that the body of his 13-year-old son was found by hanging in his room at home.

The body of the victim was found, a student in the first year of middle school, lying on the bed of his bedroom inside his apartment with his parents, and a rope that his father used for hunting work was found hanging from the ceiling of the fan in the victim's room. Investigations suggested that the victim made a gallows for suicide, because there were no bruises. Abrasions were also found on the left side of the neck and below the right ear from the effects of the cord.

The investigation team discussed the mother and confirmed that her son suffered from depression and refused to go to school, so a verbal altercation occurred between the victim and his father approximately two days before his suicide, and then I was surprised to find him hanged the morning after the argument.

The student’s father said in the prosecution interrogations that his son used to be absent from school and when she violated him for fleeing and asked him to go there, he found his body on the second day, hanging in his room.

The father explained in his account of the Public Prosecution that his son suffered from depression during the last period with the beginning of the study without reason and refused to go to complete his education, which provoked his anger and the father indicated that he violated his son and threatened him with beating if he did not go to school.

The father continued, saying, "On the morning of the second day, his mother went to wake him up to go to school, and we found his body hanging and heard the sound of his mother's screaming, and when she saw him, she tried to save him, but God’s will, and the father was in a state of collapse, crying after he gave his statement."
