At an anti-police demonstration in the Leipzig district of Connewitz, firefighters were pelted with pyrotechnics on Sunday evening.

Several people were arrested, said police spokesman Olaf Hoppe.

There was initially no information on possible injuries.

The security forces were immediately on site with a large contingent.

Among other things, four water cannons were opened and a police helicopter circled over the city district.

The registered demonstration had the motto "Fight the fascists in uniform".

According to the police, around 150 people had gathered for the stationary rally.

The date for the demo has meaning in left-wing extremist circles.

December 13th

stands for the letters ACAB - for the anti-police slogan "All cops are bastards".

Last year there was also a demonstration in Leipzig-Connewitz that day.

Due to the Saxon corona rules, the meeting was only allowed to take place stationary.

Nevertheless, participants suddenly start moving.

The pyrotechnics flew on the officers who had observed what was happening at the time.
