In a few days, sales exploded and the French company that produces them Sabarot had to adapt.

Who would have thought that little English people would love green lentils from Puy-en-Velay and that they would become the star legume across the Channel?

Yet this is what happened three years ago thanks to Prince George.

On September 7, 2017, for the return to kindergarten of the heir to the crown of England, in the very chic Thomas's Battersea school in London, the press covered the event.

She is on the lookout for the smallest information.

The canteen menu, which promotes healthy food, ideal for concentration, is itself closely scrutinized.

But that day, it is not "steak frites" on George's plate but smoked mackerel and lentils.

Green lentils precisely, produced by the French company Sabarot.

This is only a detail on the surface, but the information is circulating at high speed after the tabloid Daily Mail mentioned it in one of its articles.

Thanks to the popularity of the little prince and the British royal family, the English will start to taste these French legumes, remembers Antoine Wessner the CEO of Sabarot in the Europe 1 Studio podcast "Marques de Famille", produced in partnership with Harmonie Mutual.

Lens orders explode

Orders from English wholesalers are exploding.

Then by fad, the success of Sabarot lenses became global!

Antoine Wassner even confides that he was questioned by an American at a trade show: he wanted to order "Prince George's lenses".

A big upheaval for the company

For the Sabarot family business, this unexpected publicity stunt is like a storm.

How to face it?

"As a team necessarily. Today we can not face a tidal wave of orders alone", explains Antoine Wassner, CEO of the Sabarot-Wassner group in "Family Brands".

“Even if in a family business, you are 200% in your business, you need a team, that's something that is essential”.
