China News Service, Guangzhou, December 11 (Guo Jun and Li Jianji) According to the Guangzhou Wuyang Planetarium, the earth will pass through the orbit of the famous Gemini meteor cluster.

This year, the Gemini meteor shower will appear from December 4th to 17th, and its peak period will occur around 9 o'clock on December 14th.

Experts say that if the night sky is clear and the atmosphere is highly transparent, it can be observed anywhere in China and even the entire northern hemisphere.

During the maximum period of the Gemini meteor shower, it can be seen with the naked eye alone, and about 120 meteors can be seen every hour.

In China, the Gemini meteor shower can be observed for two consecutive days (twice) this year.

The best observation time is from 21:00 on December 13th and 14th to before dawn the next day.

Observing the Gemini meteor shower this year, there is no moonlight interference, very suitable for observation and photography.

Next year and the next year, the observation of the Gemini meteor shower will be affected by moonlight.

Therefore, astronomers should not miss this year's ideal observation and shooting opportunities.

All places should choose to observe in an environment with a wide field of view, no lights, and 4th magnitude stars.
