[Explanation] On December 10, the Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference. The spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce Gao Feng responded to the recent rumor that "a large number of Japanese companies are queuing to withdraw from China".

He said that according to the Japan External Trade Organization's survey of Japanese-funded enterprises in China, such claims are untenable.

  Judging from the Japan External Trade Organization's survey report on Japanese companies in China, from 2015 to 2019, the proportion of Japanese companies expanding, maintaining, and reducing their business in China remained basically stable. Among them, the proportion of companies planning to reduce their business in China was relatively small. .

In April this year, the agency conducted a survey of about 3,500 Japanese-funded companies in southern China. Among them, 91.7% of the Japanese-funded companies stated that they have no plans to transfer their business in China, an increase of 6.9 percentage points from the survey conducted in February this year.

The so-called "large numbers of Japanese companies withdrawing from China" is simply untenable.

The so-called "reduction of dependence on China" does not conform to market laws and will not become a corporate investment. The basis for decision-making.

  According to Chinese statistics, from January to October this year, among the 29,500 newly established foreign-invested enterprises nationwide, 604 were from Japan, with actual investment amounting to RMB 20.26 billion.

In fact, most Japanese companies in China have not considered exiting or withdrawing from the Chinese market.

The investments of some Japanese companies in Japan and Southeast Asian countries are mostly new non-homogeneous projects.

  [Explanation] Gao Feng said that China will further expand its market opening, increase its services for foreign-funded enterprises in various aspects such as industrial chain supporting, industrial transformation and upgrading, and specifically solve the practical problems faced by foreign-funded enterprises, and strive to build a world-class Marketization, rule of law, and an international business environment enable foreign companies to take root in the Chinese market and achieve mutual benefit and win-win results.

  In addition, at the press conference, Gao Feng also introduced a series of consumption promotion measures to be carried out by the Ministry of Commerce in order to further consolidate the continued recovery of China's consumption.

  In terms of promoting commodity consumption, launch a new round of cars going to the countryside and trade-in for new ones; implement the policy of completely abolishing the restrictions on the removal of second-hand cars, encourage the development of a new model of "Internet + recycling of waste materials", and promote the upgrading of home appliances and furniture.

In terms of boosting catering consumption, encourage companies to promote traditional characteristics, innovate and improve dishes, and promote high-quality specialty catering; guide companies to innovate operating models, promote online and offline integration, and actively develop new catering consumption models such as online ordering and contactless delivery.

At the same time, policies and measures to resolutely stop catering waste were introduced to create a good catering consumption environment.
