Wuhan Evening News (correspondent Li Han, reporter Zhang Jian) The 204-jin woman suffered from infertility, divorce and other major blows in her life because of obesity, and even had serious vision problems, so she had to ask a doctor for help.

On December 10, she underwent gastric reduction surgery, hoping to restore health to her overwhelmed body.

40-year-old Ms. Liu is the owner of a barbecue restaurant in Wuchang. She has had more appetite than her peers since she was a child. As an adult, she will eat a large bowl of hot dried noodles, two fried dough sticks, two eggs and a cup of soy milk for breakfast every day. She is 162 cm tall. Her weight has been hovering around 200 kg, and she suffers from high blood pressure and diabetes. She tries to control her weight through exercise and diet, but the effect is not satisfactory.

After getting married in 2008, she and her husband always wanted a child, but they always failed.

Going to the hospital for examination, it was found that Ms. Liu suffered from polycystic ovary syndrome, which is one of the complications caused by obesity.

In 2012, Ms. Liu tried assisted reproductive techniques such as artificial insemination, but failed to get pregnant.

Over the years, the husband and wife often quarreled for this reason, and divorced in 2013.

However, the troubles caused by obesity to Ms. Liu continued. In early 2014, Ms. Liu woke up and found that her vision was significantly reduced, especially her right eye was completely invisible. She went to the hospital for examination and was diagnosed with retinopathy caused by diabetes. After the sugar control treatment, Ms. Liu underwent eye laser surgery and her vision was restored.

However, in recent years, she has found that her vision has gradually declined. This year, her glasses have reached 1,000 degrees, which is very high myopia.

Ms. Liu, who is suffering from obesity, is increasingly worried, especially since the weight of this year has reached 204 kg.

Last week, she came to the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University for treatment.

Li Zhen, deputy director of the Obesity and Metabolic Disease Surgery Center, performed a detailed examination for Ms. Liu, and confirmed that she met the indications for bariatric surgery.

On December 10, Li Zhen used laparoscopic minimally invasive technology to perform sleeve gastrectomy for Ms. Liu. Ms. Liu’s greater gastric curvature was removed, leaving the cuff-shaped side of the lesser curvature, reducing the volume of the stomach by more than half.

"I hope this time I can lose weight successfully and return the overwhelmed body to normal." After the operation, Ms. Liu said that after successful weight loss, her greatest wish is to start a second marriage and have her own children.

"Ms. Liu's fasting blood sugar is twice that of normal people. It is a typical obesity-induced diabetes. By shrinking the stomach, blood sugar can be effectively controlled, and basic diseases caused by obesity such as hypertension and diabetes can also be cured without medicine." Li Zhen said Obesity can cause many adverse effects on the body. Surgery to lose weight can not only help treat chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, but also help women prepare for pregnancy.
