China News Service, Hong Kong, December 11-The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government announced late at night on December 10 that it would cancel visa-free visits to Hong Kong for holders of American diplomatic passports from today.

This measure is in line with the countermeasures taken by the Central People's Government against the United States.

A spokesperson for the SAR government said: "After the measures take effect, except for direct transit and staying in the airport restricted area, all U.S. diplomatic passport holders must first apply for visas from Chinese embassies and consulates abroad before visiting Hong Kong." (End)
