Gunma Prefecture has decided to request restaurants in five cities in the eastern part of the prefecture, where the number of people infected with the new coronavirus is increasing rapidly, to shorten business hours for two weeks from the 15th of this month.

Gunma Prefecture held a meeting of the countermeasures headquarters for the new coronavirus on the 10th, and the Special Measures Law for restaurants in five cities, Ota, Isesaki, Kiryu, Midori, and Tatebayashi, where the number of infected people is increasing rapidly. Based on the above, we have decided to request a reduction in business hours.

The target is a total of about 4,900 restaurants that serve alcohol, such as restaurants with entertainment such as snacks and izakaya, and karaoke restaurants.

The period is two weeks from the 15th to the 28th of this month, and we request that you refrain from operating between 10 pm and 5 am.

Based on the request, the prefecture will pay 280,000 yen per store as a cooperation fee only to the stores that responded to the request in all the target two weeks.

Governor Yamamoto said at an extraordinary press conference held on the night of the 10th, "Given the current infection situation, medical care provision system, and the year-end and New Year holidays, we have decided that we have to impose strong restrictions here." I did.
