Resigning Prime Minister Hassan Diab and three former Lebanese ministers were charged with negligence on Thursday (December 10) as part of the investigation into the devastating explosions at the port of Beirut in August, a judicial source told AFP.

Hassan Diab resigned a few days after the double explosion, which left more than 200 dead, but he continues to manage the day-to-day affairs while waiting for the formation of a new government, still at a standstill.

The explosion was triggered by a fire in a warehouse that has housed for several years, according to the authorities, tons of ammonium nitrate without precaution.

The tragedy also left more than 6,500 injured and devastated entire neighborhoods of the Lebanese capital.
