An advisory committee of the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA, in English) recommended this Thursday that Pfizer's vaccine against covid-19 be approved urgently, in what is a key step for its distribution millions of Americans.

Members of the FDA's Vaccines and Biological Products Advisory Committee voted 17 in favor, 4 against and 1 abstention for the vaccine to be administered to all those individuals aged 16 years or older, age at which Pfizer has demonstrated a secure application.

The vote in favor of the committee is not binding and does not mean that the vaccine was automatically given the green light, as it is up to the FDA to make the final decision.
