In view of the rising corona numbers, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) is calling for a complete lockdown from Christmas until at least January 10th, or longer if necessary.
"It needs nationwide exit restrictions, night curfews in hotspots, business closings, company holidays and extended school holidays everywhere," said Söder on Thursday of the German press agency in Munich.
Regarding the period, the CSU boss said: "That must apply until January 10 - but as long as necessary."

We have to shut down public life, ”he said.
“That means all shops too, apart from those for everyday needs such as groceries.
It is necessary that we then have exit restrictions everywhere in Germany and curfews in hotspots during the night.
Everyone should just stay at home during this time. "
In the fight against the corona pandemic, the Gates Foundation plans to provide an additional 250 million dollars (207 million euros).
The money should be used, among other things, for the procurement and distribution of vaccine in poorer countries in Africa and South Asia, it said in a statement on Thursday.
